- CP violation
- Subject: BaBar observes CP violation in
the B system
- Abstract: The BABAR detector at the
PEP-II asymmetric B Factory at SLAC has observed, for the first time, CP
violation in the neutral B
system. As a result of their analysis it was obtained that sin2beta =
0.59 +/- 0.14 (stat) +/- 0.05 (syst), establishing CP violation at the 4.1
sigma level.

- Solar standard model confirmed
- Subject: The SNO detector has shown that
the total 8B neutrino flux from the sun is compatible with the
solar standard model.
- Abstract: The Sudbury Neutrino
Observatory (SNO)
observed solar neutrinos via charged current and elastic scattering. These
measuments together with the elastic scattering results from
Super-Kamiokand allow to infer that the observed 8B neutrino
flux is in agreement with the standard solar model predictions. This
provides further evidence for active neutrino oscillations in the sun.

- New Muon (g-2) measurement
- Subject: New muon (g-2) measurement may
indicate a discrepancy with the standard model.
- Abstract: The Brookhaven E821 experiment
has performed a very precise measurement of muon (g-2), obtaining that
aµ= 11 695 202 (14)(6) X 10-10. This result is
incompatible at 2.6 sigma with the current theoretical predictions, i.e.
aµ(exp) - aµ(SM) = 43 (16) X
10-10.
